Wednesday evenings 7pm - 9.30pm from September 17th at Platf9rm, Brighton, led by award-winning writer, Linda Marshall Griffiths. Are you writing a novel, got a TV show in your head or walking around with a story you want to tell? Are you fascinated by the process of creative writing and want to dive in? If you are a new or experienced writer, this eight-week writing course will give you opportunity to explore in depth: text, dialogue, characterisation, genre, form, silence, narrative, structure and storytelling. In a relaxed evening setting at Platf9rm, Tower Point, Floor Six, we will develop tools through a playful approach of writing exercises, shared work, and developing skills to create an initial idea into something much bigger. With weekly writing tasks and development of a writing-practice begin a journey towards creating a new piece of writing in fiction or dramatic form. Culminating with a social evening giving writers an opportunity to read and share work with an invited audience, this will be an exciting and dynamic process which will kickstart a passion for writing. Linda Marshall Griffiths work has recently been shortlisted for the Andromeda Science-Fiction Prize, 2025 and her stage-play, The Invisible, was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Playwriting. Her plays have won a Pearson Award, Grand Prix at the Prix Marulic, BBC Single Audio Drama, Finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Theatre Award, Tinniswood Award, Arias, MEN Best New Play and the Yale Drama Series. She is currently working on projects for TV and writing fiction. She also has a PhD in silence and has taught on Creative Writing MA's at Cambridge and York Universities.
